About me

Sharon Go, LMFT

Sharon Go in a sun hat, smiling in a green field

Hi! I'm Sharon, a first-generation Chinese American and a Bay Area native. I was born and raised in San Francisco and now live in the East Bay with my family.

For the past 10 years I've worked as a clinician with children, adolescents, young adults and families. Many of the people I work with now are high-achievers and first-generation adults who learned to care for everyone but themselves.

My approach is attachment-focused and EFT-informed. Together we'll look at how you connect with others and what keeps you from asking for what you need, so you can build relationships that feel mutual and safe. As a first-generation Chinese American raised by immigrant parents, I bring a culturally informed, trauma-informed lens to our work.

What I help with

I specialize in friendships and relationships. All sessions are held online by secure video.

Friendship breakups & grief

When a close friendship ends or slowly fades, and it hurts more than anyone seems to understand.

Loneliness

Feeling alone even with people around you, and longing for deeper connection.

People-pleasing

Noticing your own needs, and learning to ask for them, after years of caring for everyone else.

Boundaries & cultural expectations

Setting limits with family and others while honoring where you come from.

Repeating relationship patterns

Understanding the painful cycles with friends, partners or family that keep playing out.

First-gen & high-achieving adults

Room to set down the role of holding it all together for everyone but yourself.

Who I see: adults, couples, teens and families. I also work with children when online sessions are a good fit for them.

Common questions

How do I get started?

Call or email me to set up a free 15-minute consultation. We'll talk briefly about what's going on, I'll answer your questions, and if it feels like a good fit, we'll find a time for a first session.

Do you work with children?

Yes. Online sessions can be harder for younger kids, so during the free consultation we'll talk about whether video therapy is a good fit for your child.

How do online sessions work?

We meet by secure video. You'll need a private, quiet space and a phone, tablet or computer with a camera. You must be located in California at the time of each session.

Do you take insurance?

I don't bill insurance directly, but I can provide a superbill you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Check with your plan about your out-of-network benefits.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please let me know at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule.

You don't have to carry this alone.

Friendship loss and loneliness are some of the most painful, and least talked about, experiences we face. Whether you're grieving a friendship, longing for deeper connection, or ready to break old patterns, you're welcome here. I'd be honored to walk alongside you.

Call or email to set up a free 15-minute consultation. If I miss your call, leave a message and I'll get back to you. Please keep details brief, since email and voicemail aren't fully private.
